Alanna Budhoo – Executive Director

Pre-Ballet, Creative Movement – alanna@tapshoesandtutus.ca

Alanna has been dancing since the age of 8. She attended Claude Watson School for the Arts studying dance, music, visual arts and drama, majoring in dance. Alanna continied in the Claude program at Earl Haig S.S. majoring in dance. During this time, Alanna took private ballet lessons in the Cecchetti Method and has completed her intermediate in Cecchetti from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing.
In 2011 Alanna joined an organization called UGot Active Kids teaching dance workshops and curriculum programs in hip-hop, Afro-Caribbean, Bollywood and Latin in schools and childcare centres across the GTA. Having a love for the programs and the desire to create programs, Alanna became a part of the UGot Sales team creating and selling the progams to schools and childcare centres.
In 2012 Alanna took on the role of co-ordinator for Tapshoes & Tutus to assist the Board of Directors and members with the work necessary to operate the dance classes, while continuing to teach the ballet and tap & jazz programs.

Alanna is currently the Executive Director of Tapshoes & Tutus Dance Co-op and is excited to be a part of the co-op’s growth and success. She is also looking forward to another year of teaching the Pre-Ballet/Creative Movement classes as well.

Anisha Joshi

Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary Classes

A native of Nova Scotia, Alexandra Ashley is a singer, actor, dancer and choreographer. She began her first dance class at age 3 and has studied ballet, jazz, modern, tap and hip hop. She has studied at the Debbie Allen Dance Academy, Los Angeles; The Banff Centre, Banff; Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, Winnipeg; National Ballet School, Toronto and Anisha is a cutting-edge artist working with daCosta Talent agency out of Toronto. Alberta grown, she was technically trained in ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, and numerous styles of hip-hop. Her intense training helped her grow to work with multiple different companies across Canada throughout her youth including NXG Company, as well as TwoFourSeven Co and ITP in Vancouver, BC. Last year Anisha returned from a year-long contract beginning with assisting Moment Factory in the production of their newest show on board the Royal Caribbean’s Anthem of the Seas and later joining the cast performing around the Mediterranean Sea.

She is now working in Toronto as an accomplished dancer and budding actress. Anisha appeared in Web of Lies, xXx Return of the Xander Cage, Bailamos! Live at the Empire Theatre, and Comicon promo for FX’s The Strain. Her list of credits this past year also include Samsung, Kotex, Reebok, and Optimum cable.


Christine Walker

Jazz, Hip Hop

Christine Walker is a professional dancer, teacher, choreographer, actor & model with over 20 years of dance experience. She began her training in ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop and contemporary at Sheila Parkins School of Dance, Ethel Bruneau’s Tap School & Ballet Divertimento. Walker then moved to Toronto and graduated from Ryerson University with a BFA in Dance (2013). She had the honor of working with Nadia Potts, Karen Duplisea, Kenny Pearl, Vicky St. Denys, Robert Glumbeck and William Yong amongst others.
Christine has performed in contemporary dance with junior company in T-Danz Festival (2009) in France & Spain, performed with the Stella Adler’s Studio of Acting with the MADAIR project in NYC (2010) and worked with Louise Bedard at Springboard Danse Montreal (2010). She was an actress and dancer in Naught Theatre Company, Something is Wrong, in Toronto (2013). She has performed in music video ‘This Wild Heart’ by The Nursery and most recently dancer in music video by Hollerado (2017).
She worked as a professional dancer with Creativiva (2015-16), Bash Fx and Kulkat Entertainment (2018). A winner in Latin Ballroom in Bronze & Silver with Canada Dance Council (2016), and most proudly a hip hop dancer for the Opening Ceremonies for the Pan AM Games with Cirque du Soleil in Toronto (2015). She also was featured in a photoshoot for Seed9 magazine “Poor But Sexy” in Toronto.
She has also trained at many renowned summer camps such as Perry Mansfield, USA (on scholarship) with works by Nicholas Villeneuve & Sidra Bell; Domaine Forget, CAN with works by Edgar Zendejas; Broadway Theatre Project, USA, O Vertigo, CAN, Movement Invention Project, NYC & Kenny Pearl’s Emerging Artist’s Intensive, CAN.
With a passion in teaching, Miss Walker has taught in over 100 public/private schools, dance studios, community centres, daycares and arts camps teaching well over 1000 students in dance education. Her mission is to provide high-quality dance classes to all ages and abilities!
